Can foods forestall aging?
Studies conducted at the Jean Mayer, USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, suggest consuming fruits and vegetables with high ORAC may help slow the aging process in both the body and the brain. Diets that are rich in high ORAC foods have raised the antioxidant power of human blood. Antioxidant intake is paramount in the prevention of disease states and the cornerstone of all anti-aging therpaies. Foods offering the highest concentration of antioxidant activity are ORAC rich.4
Why do some people live to be 100 years of age?
A recent study conducted in Italy on healthy centenarians showed that they have high plasma levels of the antioxidant rich Vitamins A and E. Another study reported in The Journal of The American Geriatrics Society found that centenarians had substantially hihger levels of antioxidnats and lower levels of free radicals in their blood.5
It has been shown that antioxidants reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some cnacers. By reducing your risk of heart disease and cancer, it is safe to assume that human life expectancy will be extended. More importantly, the quality of life will be improved.
